The museum has hosted several immersive exhibits in the past. Most recently in 2023, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden hosted an exhibition titled One with Eternity: Yayoi Kusama in the Hirshhorn Collection, featuring works by the visionary artist Yayoi Kusama. This exhibition has now ended.

The museum also hosted The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist, a six-episode docuseries that highlighted how seven rising artists create original paintings, sculptures, prints and mixed-media works in response to some of the most important ideas of our time.
